I have been chased by this beast for so long that it grins like it knows my name
It gnashes teeth, it salivates
A shake of the hand, a trick up the sleeve
Tearing flesh from bone, limb from limb, over and over and over and over again
On your knees, begging your god, “Save me”
But I am the god of my own demise, I carried it out by my design
And I lay my sins bare with such autocratic pride
Wrapped around my neck, forever tightening
If ignorance is bliss then I spend my days in shit
A fattened pig inside the pen, I don’t know the difference
Inherited, it’s heritage, its decades of this arrogance
Swallowed whole
Apathy in everything, medicine is menacing
And now I call it home
This is the voice of doom calling
No one’s gonna save you from yourself.
Knockout debut from a Buffalo, New York-based hardcore band who like their riffs sick, their drums fast, and their choruses sticky-sweet. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 28, 2024
These guys instantly became one of my favorite core bands after picking up Hexes on vinyl back in 2017. The majority of Ceremony’s tracks are punishingly fast and heavy, with Dead Husk being my absolute favorite. Their sound is as tight as ever. Though, I also whole heartedly welcome the doomier side of their sound on the title track Ceremony, which reminds me of the Sacto band Will Haven. However, with Ceremony, DSGNS proves they are in a league of their own. Don’t sleep on this! scares.exe
